New Translation: Volkan Çıdam on Memory Politics

We are happy to publish the newly translated article by Volkan Çıdam on “Memory Politics in Crisis: What is Going on in Germany? (II)”. Volkan Çıdam is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, and part of the CritUP network. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main and from 2019 to 2020, he was a fellow at the Center for Social Critque in Berlin. Besides his extensive research on Marxism and Critical Theory, he has worked on the Gezi protests and, most recently, on politics of remembrance. In this new article, Çıdam re-reads concepts from early Critical Theory on memory politics in light of current debates, outlining the challenges and risks of a reactionary turn in German memory politics.
